Security University performs a variety of operations that includes the identification, development, and advocacy of practices for developing, acquiring, delivering, and maintaining high--quality cyber security training classes. This handbook supersedes all other previous editions of the student handbook. Should there be any questions or the need for clarification, please contact the CEO of Security University.
If for some reason a uninformed student pays for a class before speaking with the CEO or career specialist and does not have the requisite TCP/IP knowledge SU will immediately void the students credit card charge. If a student selects the wrong class a simple re-registration into the correct class will be advised.
eStudy - books and quizzes is an iPad that helps students develop flexible knowledge, effective problem solving, effective test taking skills, intrinsic motivation which ultimately assists students with reading comprehension, content knowledge, or preparation for an examination. Using the eStudy tools helps them identify what they already know, what they need to know, and how and where to access new information that may lead to resolution of the question. eStudy video helps students continue to study and access "video study guides" for post class.

Gathering and Use of Information
Security University will never willfully disclose any personally identifiable information about our Web site visitors to any third party without first receiving the user's permission.
Visitors to the Security University Web site may voluntarily supply certain personally identifiable information in connection with (i) prospective client surveys and requests for information, (ii) contest or sweepstakes registration, (iii) subscription registration for sites or services which require subscription (such as e-mail newsletters), (iv) on-line or e-mail requests for services. In addition, personally identifiable information is voluntarily provided in connection with certain content submissions, such as discussion forums, bulletin boards, comments and suggestions, or voting. Security University may use such information only for conducting the activities stated above, for internal marketing and promotional purposes.
Third Party Access to Personal User/Client Information
Security University may grant access to private user and/or client information only under the following circumstances: (i) The user has explicitly indicated that personal information may be provided to select third parties (for the purposes indicated at such time of assent). (ii) Such information is required in order to fulfill services for Security University clients (for example; information required by vendors of equipment provided to the client). The extent of such use is always explained at the time a site visitor provides such information. If the visitor does not want this information collected and used by us for the disclosed internal purposes, the visitor is given an opportunity to "opt-out." Our visitors need to recognize, however, that under certain circumstances, if they select to "opt-out" they may not be eligible for certain activities for which the personally identifiable information is needed. (For example, if a contest participant elects to "opt-out" on permitting us to collect and use their personal information, we cannot contact them if they win without using such information.) We do not collect personally identifiable information from our visitors other than what is supplied to us on a voluntary basis.
Some areas of our Web site are restricted to active clients of Security University. Such areas may require a username and password combination to access them. All of the above tenants apply to our clients.
Admissions criteria for STUDENT Enrollment - OTHER than SUT Q/ISP, Q/IAP, Q/SSE credentials
All Students are required to fill out the online registration form online @ Security University website registration page. (http://www.bodyandmind.co.za/?articles=reg.php).
A prospective or current student may cancel their enrollment at any time and refunded 100% of their course fee. A student may cancel and request a refund any time prior to the first class day and through the last day of class. Should a prospective or current student request to re-schedule for extenuating or unforeseen circumstances, SU requests the student re-register for the next class date at no additional charge. SU refunds are within 30 days after receipt of a written request or the date the student last attended classes whichever is sooner. A SU v0upon allows individual corporate clients to attend up to 23 SU instructor led classes over 24 months. A v0upon purchase is limited to SU corporate clients and not available for individuals to purchase at any time. V0upon’s have $0 value after attending the 4th class anytime during the 24 month window. If a corporation cancels a v0upon after student attends 2 two classes they would be refunded the retail class fee purchase difference (e.g. $11,000) less the value of $3,998 two classes. The Platinum Pass ($4,985) or Platinum Plus CISSP Pass ($6,000) has $0 value after attending (any) 3 Platinum Pass classes. SU reserves the right to cancel class at any time. If this happens, SU will refund the class fee in full. Security University’s liability is limited to the class fee only. SU cannot be held liable for other related expenses, i.e., airfare, airline penalties, lodging, etc. Security University cannot be held liable for other related expenses, i.e., airfare, airline penalties, lodging, etc.
Priority of Service Policy for Veterans and Eligible Spouses
The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) provides certain funds to CSEAL Team X TAACCCT project to provide training services to eligible grant participants. As a condition to receiving those funds, priority of service (POS) shall be given to veterans and eligible spouses in training and placement services. In accordance with the implementation of the Veterans' Priority Provisions of the "Jobs for Veterans Act" (PL107-288), qualified veterans and eligible spouses will receive priority referral to services over non-veterans as determined by each program's mandatory eligibility criteria, if any. Veterans and eligible spouses must meet all eligibility and program requirements for participation in order to receive priority for a program.
The veteran or eligible spouse shall be identified at the point of entry, whether in person or virtual, so that the priority of service may be implemented over the full range of services available including, but not limited to registration, training and placement. Veterans shall be asked to self-identify upon application.
Priority of service means that a covered person receives access to the service or resource earlier in time than a non-covered person or if the service or resource is limited, the covered person receives access instead of or before a non-veteran.
For purposes of this policy only, the following definitions will apply.
Veteran : a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable, as specified in 38 U.S.C. 101(2). Active service includes full-time duty in the National Guard or a Reserve component, other than full-time duty for training purposes.
Eligible Spouse: The spouse of any of the following:
(1) Any veteran who died of a service-connected disability;
(2) Any member of the Armed Forces serving on active duty who, at the time of application for the priority, is listed in one or more of the following categories and has been so listed for a total of more than 90 days:
(i) Missing in action;
(ii) Captured in line of duty by a hostile force; or
(iii) Forcibly detained or interned in line of duty by a foreign government or power;
(3) Any veteran who has a total disability resulting from a service-connected disability, as evaluated by the Department of Veterans Affairs;
(4) Any veteran who died while a disability, as indicated in (3) above, was in existence.
The status of a veteran or an eligible spouse can be verified by referring a variety of official documents, including, but not limited to:
- A DD 214 (issued following separation from active duty);
- An official notice issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs that establishes entitlement to a disability rating or award of compensation to a qualified dependent;
- An official notice issued by the Department of Defense that documents the eligibility of an individual, based on the missing or detained status of that individual's active duty spouse; or
- An official notice issued by a State veterans' service agency that documents veteran status or spousal rights, provided that the State veterans' service agency requires Federal documentation of that information.
Company policies vary widely. Some companies pay tuition directly to Security University, while others reimburse the employee when the course is completed. Many employers cover 100 percent of tuition while others pay a portion.
Students should talk to their human resource department about their company's specific policy and then contact an Security University admissions advisor with the details. The admissions advisor will gladly assist students in meeting company policy and answering employer questions. Enrollment can be paid in full or on a course-by-course basis, and certificate of competition can be furnished upon request. Company discounts are also available for group enrollments.
Should an student have a conflict with Security University, the first step is to arrange a conference. A student may lodge a complaint either verbally or in writing to the instructor or administrator, outlining the details of the complaint.
Remit the complaint immediately to the CEO. If an oral complaint is not resolved within a reasonable time period, a complaint may be submitted in writing. Within ten days of receiving a written complaint, the school will provide the student with a written response with a summary of the investigation and the deposition. If the complaint is rejected, supporting documentation for the reasoning behind it will be presented. In no way will the student's rights or remedies be waived. Any document signed waiving these rights is void.
- Security University recognizes that any dispute that may arise should be resolved as quickly and as amicably as possible. Accordingly, the following procedures shall apply to the resolution of any dispute:
Send an email to Grievances@securityuniversity.net with as much information and documentation of the situation as possible. Please include member full name, registered email address, and any other contact information appropriate.
- The SU Grievance advisor will contact the plaintiff to confirm the complaint has been received within five days.
- The SU Grievance advisor will review the grievance, and contact all applicable parties to discuss the problem.
- Within 15 days, the SU Grievance advisor will compile the information and present it via e-mail to the SU Grievance Committee along with recommendations on how to resolve the grievance in a fair manner.
- The SU Grievance advisor will send the student an e-mail response within 12 days with an explanation the decision.
- In the event that the SU Grievance advisors are not available to make a decision within the above timelines, then SU's CEO shall perform the function of the SU Grievance advisor as applicable

Student Code of Ethics:
All qualified information security professionals who are qualified by Security University recognize that such qualification is a privilege that must be both earned, validated and maintained. In support of this principle, all Security University students are required to commit to fully support this Code of Ethics (the "Code"). Security University qualified credential holders who intentionally or knowingly violate any provision of the Code will be subject to action by a peer review panel, which may result in the revocation of student qualification. Student are obligated to follow the ethics complaint procedure upon observing any action by an Security University qualification holder that breach the Code. Failure to do so may be considered a breach of the Code pursuant to Canon III.
Student Code of Conduct:
Misconduct is considered to be in conflict with the educational objectives of the school and thus subject to dismissal. Misconduct is cheating, forgery, plagiarism, furnishing false information, alteration of school documents, disruption or obstruction of teaching or administration, physical abuse of any person on school premises, theft or damage to school premises and property of other students, and use of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs on school property. Any sexual misconduct in class will not be tolerated.
SU Copyright Policy
SU will not tolerate the unauthorized reproduction of software or otherwise copyrighted material by employees or students. This policy defines software as any electronic copyrighted material, including but not limited to software applications, video, audio, or other date files.
Infrigement of Software Policy
Whether you call it borrowing, copying, sharing or "fair use," software copyright infringement is illegal and puts SU's students, staff, as well as the university itself, at risk for legal action.
Student Standards of Completion Progress
- A student survey is completed by student at the end of every class whether the attendee pass or fails the optional exam
- A minimum passing grade on optional Testrac exams of 70% (SU Certifications have optional Testrac test exams)
- Minimum percentage of attendance required to maintain satisfactory progress is 95% of total class hours.
- If an attendee fails to show up to class for greater than 2 hrs they are asked to re-schedule the class. These are conditions for termination (of veterans' benefits) due to unsatisfactory conduct or progress, for a 40 hour class.
- Please Note: any student "challenging or applying" for a SU Q/ISP, Q/IAP, Q/SSE Certification Credential is not required to attend class in order to challenge a Q/ISP, Q/IAP, Q/SSE exam.
