A Brief Insight – Indigo is a combination of deep Blue and Violet…the colour of the night sky. It expresses thought, creativity, intuition and vision. This colour works on the higher mental / emotional which activates soul searching because it vibrates on universal feelings and thought, thus stimulates the mind at soul level….deep stuff !!
This colour encourages future culture consciousness. It is an Electric floating, calming colour…floating between the leaders (violet, yellow, mental/physical tan) and the followers (magenta, red/pink, orange and lavender)
Its underlying pigments are Red, Blue (Violet). The warmth of Red compliments the cooling action of Blue / Violet, thus it balances the excessive coldness - which renders Indigo very capable without its complimentary colour Orange. (it is naturally complimented with the presence and warmth of Red)
The country that best relates to Indigo, is Egypt. Its quality-integrity, its desire-I want to see clearly, its best day is Friday, its symbol – iridescent wavy line expressing feeling / pentagram, its taste – piquant, its touch – extreme coldness, flame colour – emerald, its action – calming, and its complimentary colour is orange.
This colour stimulates truthfulness, invoking an executive image by alleviating feelings of inadequacy. It’s deep action is to make time flow forward. It is passive and effects the right side of the brain.
Physically Indigo
Is a sedative (nervous tension/insomnia), disperses growths, clears bacteria (purifies blood, ear/eye infections), clears sinuses, breaks fevers, reduces swelling, has the strongest astringent action of all cool colours, soothes chest problems, arrest convulsions, and is also used in treating diarrhoea, lumbago and sciatica.
Contra Indicated
To those who suffer from extreme slow metabolism and defective circulation (as with Blue).
Therapeutically Indigo
Acts on the Pituitary and governs the Skeletal System, and is associated with the lower brain, eyes and sinuses. It suppresses the hyper secretion of the thyroid (by acting on the Parathyroid) which causes muscle tissues irritability through nerve sedation. Indigo sits on the fence between Red (hot, stimulating) and Blue (cool, sedative), which acts oppositely though Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nerve response. (The Parathyroid and the Thyroid acts together maintaining the normal calcium levels of the blood within limits under varying conditions). This action is commanded by the Pituitary – being the master gland it acts with the Hypothalamus as a unit, which influences all other glands, and effects most. The Pituitary is Blue/Yellow in colour and has 2 lobes which are joined by the Intermediate Lobe, of who’s full functions are still unclear…it produces hormones only during foetal life and pregnancy which effects the development and growth of Melanocytes. (skin colour).
As mentioned, the Pituitary also has Anterior and Posterior lobes. The Anterior Lobe produces growth hormones ( growth and repair of all tissues and long bones), acts on the Thyroid ( T S H ), acts on the Adrenals (A C T H ), the breasts producing milk after birth, and produces Gonadotrohic (sex) hormones (F S H - oestrogen / spermatozoa and L H - progesterone / testosterone ).
The Posterior Lobe (Neurohypophysis) produces Oxytocin (uterus contraction & milk) and Vasopressin ( A D H) – maintain fluid balance of body by absorption and re-absorption of water in renal tubes, and pressor effect contracting smooth muscle [vasoconstriction] raising the blood pressure acting on both physical / psychological stimuli.
The Indigo Chakra
( Brow / Anja or third eye)
Anja means command. When we ascend to this level of balance we can control or command our whole personality, including our will and intellect. Here the power of our thoughts materialises itself through the ether resulting in manifestation. The intuition creates response within the right brain, which allows the evolved person to tap into clear ESP as naturally and easy as we have a sandwich. All memory and healing abilities are stored and processed here – past present and future. The third eye is the centre of Christ Consciousness…urging us to leap and to trust, just knowing that ‘The Net’ is always there. In the awakened it supports amplified visualisation without much concentration as a result of right-brain activation. At this level one is free to be who you are – The "I am as I am".
Its Elohim – Cyclopes: the all seeing eye of Vista, its Archangel – Raphael (transmutes energy for healing {wounds from sadness to joy} and guard of Tobias), its flame colour – Emerald Green, its oils: Lavender, Lotus, Peppermint and Basil and its stones: Clear Quartz, Herkimer Diamond and Luvulite.
Psychologically Indigo
The quality of this colour spells integrity, counteracting mental depression. It brings about calm and passiveness with its action of ‘making time appears to flow forward’. It allows finer tuning into the world of others, and beyond The Veil. It stimulates Truthfulness and brings about pleasurable feelings resulting in enjoyment when setting new limits – hence is very uplifting.
On a subconscious level it triggers brilliance and inspires objective views, with sensitivity, which encourages one to leap into tomorrow instead of wallowing in yesterday !. When Indigo is combined with a duel ‘leading’ colour equal amounts] (Tan /Yellow /Violet) it activates temperament – tantrums, great sensitivity, total indifference, and usually when teamed with ‘following’ colours equal amounts] (Magenta/ Red/ Pink/ Orange/ Lavender) it activates shyness and reticence hindering the full exploration of curiosity. Drowning one-self in Indigo brings at first peace, safety through subtle sedation, mental comfort and eventually sadness, isolation (the pull towards Blue). Those choosing this colour for their mode of transport favour the preservation of established customs and values. These drivers are ultra conservative, responsive, responsible advanced drivers. On extended forced exposure to this colour it produced dullness effect on the personality.
Metaphysically Indigo
Indigo is Midnight-Blue WITH the Divine Light of Christ – asking us to aspire and find the light of truth within. Indigo is expressed as the spirit of Force –and expressed through the wisdom of absolute knowing.
Indigo is a spiritually intense colour that reconciles science and religion, promotes justice and peace and unravels the unknown. The darker the shade the more connected the intensity. Indigo delivers to the conscious the message to go within, releasing the fear and trusting the intuition. This colour stimulates communication on a higher mental – telepathically it bridges which allows finer tuning into the worlds of others, within, and the universe out there. It connects to the universal net of feelings and thought. It activates awareness, expressing the spirit through wisdom and absolute knowing….the esoteric meaning of this colour is intuition.
To experience Indigo bathe in the night sky and experience the power and sedation of "Gods Cloak."
The Indigo Ray – The Ray of concrete Knowledge and Science.
Indigo is the colour of the SIXTH RAY. The sixth Ray is phasing out – leaving behind in tact, its beliefs and effects. This Ray is separative, selective, one pointed, encourage communications with identical, isolated, authoritarian, religious/spiritual, and desires pure spirit – fostering the vision as people feel directed towards things, wishing to penetrate the goodness that pervades all of the world. It is the ray of the crusader and hermit where everything that is received is a gift. They are abstract and mystical in their work and thought, often without comprehension of the relationship between form, energy, and the material side of life. They worship the loving heart consciousness. The demarcation lines between religion and the science there of, are a striking instance of this ray in action. This ray is moving out of the universe as the Piscean age moves away. The healer or teacher on this ray works through faith and prayer or guides through inspiration.
The mayor ‘cobblestones’ (obstacles) of this ray type includes ‘abstract intelligence’ and ‘loss of the will’ in some areas. It is part of their challenge. When man trust in God and fear not, their faith will be immeasurably rewarded even in the material world. From this perspective even karma brings happiness. Tentativeness to God is not the obliteration of one’s own faculties but it is a dedication of those faculties TO God. This dedication does not imply blind obedience to roles, or the carrying out of orders demanded by a supposed superior.
People on this ray – Christ (combined with Green/Orange), St Francis, St Theresa of Avila (combined with Orange), St Ignatius, Mother Theresa of Calcutta (combined with Blue).
