A brief insight – Orange is a secondary colour that is obtained by mixing Yellow (mental) and physical Red (grounding), thus it energises the body and alleviates mental confusion. Being surrounded by too much of this colour without being active, causes frustrations. A brilliant colour for tiredness, sports, and acting – it activates endurance. It is the colour of city dwellers.

It is the colour of Vitality, Passion, Creativity and Joy and is VERY expressive emotionally. It is flow, liquid, and happy, hence the colour of OPPORTUNITY. Orange is a warm, dramatic, Physical, emotionally-feminine colour, that rather follows instead of leading – it strikes our inner fires of creativity. Its main complimentary colour is Indigo and to some extends into shades of Turquoise (very American).

Orange is strongly associated with Eastern countries where Orange robes are worn by Buddhist Monks and India’s Sadhus. Orange is like the luminous setting sun pouring onto earth life’s creative force. It is the centre of emotions where the inner child feels safe.

It heals the ehtheric body by activating flow below the waist which then causes its flow to stimulate movement through the rest of the electro-magnetic field surrounding our being. Since it denotes self confrontation it eliminates fear. Its action on the nervous system is inspiring, especially if used in conjunction with Yellow.

Physically Orange

Is warming and stimulating thus increases the pulse rate and is INVALUABLE for the treatment of asthma since it acts potently on the lungs aiding the elimination of mucus. It acts on the spleen stimulating the Immune System, has a warming effect of the Lymph (speeding up its flow strengthening the Lymphatic system thus promotes detox hence enhances the circulatory system), bronchitis, prolapsed (excellent for trauma), rheumatism, digestive disorders, gall stones, substance abuse ( promotes inner search), post-chemo, stimulates mammary glands, aids diabetes (lowers absorption of insulin), pre cancer pathology, stimulates kidneys (renal stability), alleviate intestinal cramps, influences digestion and assimilation of food, and psychologically has a stimulating effect on the sexual genitals.

CONTRA INDICATIONS – high blood pressure – like Red it’s not advisable to over stimulate and overdose.

Therapeutically Orange

 It is a powerful tonic, has an anti-spasmodic effect, causes calcium metabolism to increase, feeds the circulatory system, releases toxins, aids mental debility. Orange governs the digestive system and its glands are the Adrenals. The adrenals (supra renal glands), are two kidney shaped bodies situated at the top of the kidneys. It has a cortex (outer Yellow) and Medulla (inner Red). The cortex is essential to life but the Medulla is not. The cortex produces 1)glucocorticoids ( stimulated by Pituitary and stress, and in non-stressful situations is marked by circadian variations { jet-lag, difference in time shifts, working shifts}), it raises blood glucose levels, regulate carbohydrate metabolism, and secures immune response. // 2) Mineral Corticoids – water/electrolyte balance, excretion of potassium + re-absorption of sodium. //3)Sex Hormones – maintain and develop secondary sex characteristics (voice, hair, femininity, masculinity, etc).

The medulla is formed from tissue of the same source as the nervous system and its functions are closely allied to those of the ANS (autonomic nervous system) – increase blood flow to heart, increase flow of oxygen, increase blood and nutrition to muscle, raises BP (superfluous vessels constrict), increase glucose conversion, dilates pupils, lows peristalsis, reduce saliva and digestive juices, prevent micturition and defecation, thus prepares the body to deal with abnormal conditions and respond to fear, excitement and anger ( Flight and Fight syndrome).

Psychologically Orange

 it raises the desire level, liberates on a mental level, brings in seed ideas, repels fixations, releases inhibitions, burns away dross thus inspires to allow clear mental activity. It increases positivity and confidence thus excellent to wear for sales people. Orange helps those who need to release the extrovert within, it touches the heart for it represents the blending of love and wisdom which unleashes, thus confronts issues of fear and frustration. Many are uncomfortable with this colour since it brings about change and flow of emotions (lower emotions which communicates through personal ‘feelings’) – labelled the colour of divorce. Socially it is brilliant for stimulating conversation (breaks down barriers). Orange encourages us to face consequences thus wont ‘let sleeping dogs lie’. Orange is a strong colour that activates inner feelings of safety – being the centre of emotions it activates the inner creativity hence is most uplifting and useful – providing it is used with intelligence. Because of all mentioned, Orange connects us with the Inner Child.

The Orange Chakra – The Sacral (second) Chakra.

This centre provides the power of invocation in the awakened and in the un-awakened it activates mild dislike, anger, malice, and hatred. This chakra controls the glandular system which affects all physical systems, and it lubricates and cleanses. The sacral chakra on an archetypal level is a more refined detailed extension of the issues of the root chakra since it has the added emotions which support expression. In this regard it deals with issues of sexuality (all issues), sensuality, emotions, financial control, inhibitions, sense of self worth, confidence and it stirs to subconscious root of Tribal (family) control. It deals with lower emotions and also is the powerhouse of control. It deals with liberty, competitiveness, all competition / financial issues – stress/ wealth, problems, strains ( located in back), / rape, incest, betrayal (energetically or physically) / creativity, fertility, birth on all levels, endometriosis, impotency, prostrate, ovarian, lower bowels, susceptibility to all diseases and illnesses and disorders, negativity via the victim or poor me, childhood memories, mothering, capacity to nurture or the want to be, abortions are also attached here (all aborted issues or incidents), all previous info on past carnations, conscious miscarriage, unclosed diseased spirits attach themselves to your soul in the area. Your honour to others is also recorded here. It is located below the navel, its element is water, its sense - taste, its planet - the moon, its plane – astral, oils: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Fennel, Ginger, and Marjoram. Its stones: Orange Calcite, Yellow Carnelian, Tigers Eye, Orange Aventurine, and Jasper. Its symbol – Crescent Moon. Its statement – I want to work for what I want and my work sustains me.

Metaphysically Orange

 Orange is the colour of change and flow which is the underlying reason why some that aren’t secured within themselves, dislikes it. Mystery of time is its essence which is understood through its esoteric meaning which is ‘hara ’- meaning ‘gravity happening within’. This colour represents The Spirit of Health, Saintliness and Wholeness. It is the primary colour of movement and change. This colour sets self-love in motion which brings about joy. This colour has proven to scientists the mysterious effect it has on the eye (decreases the sensibility of the cones) when combined with sound. It is the colour of guts, gut spa’, confidence, balls – not for the faint-hearted.

The Orange Ray– The ray of Harmony through Conflict - 4^th Ray

This has been called the Ray of Struggle, as on this ray the qualities of activity and inertia are in equal proportions so they are torn between the combat and the outcome. It does not have a specialisation like with other rays. In Layman’s Terms what this means is that those born with a 4^th (Orange) ray in ruling, are in constant throes of pain and suffering which they have to experience to give birth to their deep and rapid spiritual evolution. Those on this ray can not keep the internal and external apart in their lives and work, thus have to bring the two in harmony. These people wish to harmonise and beautify and live between the worlds of personality, soul, illusion and reality. They know where they are going even though life does start of for them being a battle for supremacy. Orange is the colour of the Unseen Kingdom. It allows humans to be interested in and concerned with the activities of the spiritual realms where the invisible caretakers of the Universe reside. It is a rare primary ray and even infrequent as a supplemental ray. I have not often come across those within this ray since they are the type that eventually becomes their own therapists – yet they are around (with HUGE issues). Those on this ray have windows into the true reality of life – being the sensitive bridges to spiritual forces. The predominant zodiac of this ray is Scorpio. Some of those on this Ray – Theresa of Avila, Yogananda, Lord Buddha and Lord Jesus Christ.

Decor In Orange

It warms. It’s excellent in the kitchen since it stimulates appetite and encourages communication. Take note though, too much of this colour can cause overbearing feelings and tendency to over indulge. Excellent for study and creative areas, social areas (community centres, hospitals) – and general healing rooms since it has the ability to make one confront your fears whilst it stimulates the immune system….pre-operating rooms, intensive care units, dental waiting rooms etc. For the introverts have a vase of Orange flowers near when you make a speech – glance at them when you feel insecure and guaranteed you’ll feel the power of its inspiration. It is also excellent for active areas (sport areas), as it encourages movement. When combing this colour with Blue (or other strong cool colours), use one third Orange and two thirds Blue to ensure harmony. Kiddies rooms are good in this colour especially when balanced with Yellow, Green and Indigo
 (its complimentary).

Wearing Orange

 It gives confidence, helps overcome fears, helps the traumatised, brings about social activity and gives active energy on both the physical and ehtheric levels (play and pray alike). Being a warm colour it uplifts and stimulates openness. It activates the inner emotions and creativity, as well as confidence in your sexual expression – assertive yet gentle. Those preferring this colour demands action being usually introverted and aggressive. Their quiet energy is definitely NOT passive let alone patient, and they often suffer from back problems which is very alluring to irritate them whilst bending down, since they put their backs out easily (they usually forget to bend correctly !) – but beware they are brilliant with words!. When you are hounded by an Orange wearer counteract by wearing Green or Turquoise balanced by Black and if you really want to freak them out, wear the lethal Black and Yellow combo. If you don’t have a chance to change – take stand near or amongst plants, and if they irritate you too much walk around holding the plant, or the last resort – throw it at them !. The final resort to putting the Orange bullies to bed, wear Orange yourself……..but watch your back. ! Wear pastels for gentleness and shades of orange to support your aggressive assertive self.
