Charities and Worthy Causes The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) protects tame and wild animals from suffering and shows people the best way to take care of them. Its Headquarters are in Johannesburg, and there are branch offices in Bredasdorp, Bronkhorstspruit, Cape Town, Durban, Ladysmith, Pietermaritzburg and Port Elizabeth.
All sorts of domesticated animals are kept at Headquarters. Some are there because their owners no longer want them and have asked the League to find another home for them. Others are cared for there because their owners hurt or mistreat them. AACL staff look after all these animals and make sure that they are comfortable and well fed. When the animals are strong and healthy, new homes are found for them. They are not sold. People, who give them good homes, adopt these animals by making a donation towards their upkeep and neutering. BOARD OF TRUSTEES NATIONAL BODY
CANCER ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA (CANSA)
CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation To contribute to the well being of children with cancer and life threatening blood disorders, and their families CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation is a country wide voluntary organisation. It brings together the parents of children who suffer from all varieties of cancer or life threatening blood disorders. The name CHOC (an abbreviation of “Childrens Haematology Oncology Clinics”) was used by the first local parent group, established in 1979. In 2000 a new national organisation was formed, linking parent groups in all parts of the country. The goal of this dedicated group is to improve the welfare and quality of care for children with cancer. The organisation provides direct practical help to children with cancer, from diagnosis onwards, recognising the inevitable disruption to family life when a child faces vigorous and often lengthy treatment. Funds raised are applied to directly benefit the children and their families, and also those involved in the treatment of these most serious illnesses. There are regional divisions of the Foundation, based in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Western Cape, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal. Cotlands Cotlands is a long-serving South African 'non-profit' agency that continues to meet the ever-changing needs of children impacted by HIV/AIDS in our country. South Africa has been identified as the country with the greatest number of HIV/AIDS-infected people in the world. Recent reports reveal that more than five million South Africans are currently living with the impact of HIV/AIDS, while some of Cotlands’ programme focus areas (e.g. Cotlands' Hlabisa Home Base Care project) have estimated infection rates of more than 40% of the total population. While this information is not new, the impact of these figures is becoming clearer to our communities, our government and the global community in which we live. 'AIDS orphans' (children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS related death of their parents), 'child-headed households' (homes managed by elder siblings often as young as 11) and similar terms are now commonplace in South Africa, yet support for these individuals is still lagging behind growing awareness of the challenges we face.

Our Aims:- Our address is, 35 Livingstone Road, Pinetown 3600. / Phone number :031 701 3288. / Email :pmckay@mweb.co.za World Primate Sanctuary Cell- 082 5758066 / Tel/ fax- (011) 6083044 The `World Primate Sanctuary ` has become so big in not only homing marmoset monkeys but also other types of monkeys, so we had to change our name from `The Marmoset Care Centre` to the above. We are a non- profitable organization like a SPCA for small exotic primates only and have been active for the past 18 years . One of our primary goals is education. Law does not protect these monkeys. Most monkeys that get donated here are done so because of behavioural disorders, which normally occur with monkeys that are, hand reared or kept alone. These monkeys can die from direct human contact by getting the herpes virus from humans, of which they die a tragic death due to lack of knowledge and no cure. These are small exotic monkeys of which there are about 6000 in South Africa and growing at a rapid rate of 1500 per year. They are small, their metabolic rate is 240 to 350 beats a minute where ours is 60 to 80 beats a minute, hence when they get sick they often die especially in the case where the owner is not knowledgeable. We offer School talks, seminars, publicity talks, helpline service, a manual on general care , etc . The monkeys get donated to us mainly for the reason of aggression due to humanizing the monkey. It is a fact that no matter how tame they are they are still wild animals. Owners buy them because they are so cute or for companionship for themselves. When the monkey becomes sexually mature, they normally become aggressive, no warning, no letting go of the owner. Then the owner donates it to us as they were unaware and the breeder or pet shop did tell them . We are in desperate need for outdoor cages, foods such as Nestle cereals, Purity bottles of 'Vanilla Custard', Ápple and Yogurt'', eggs, chicken, palony, tinned meats, marshmellos, jelly tots, jelly, Build Up, Ensure, baby blankets or polar fleece material, big cooler boxes for sleeping in , roof paint in the dark green colour, cable ties, welded mesh ,13mm by 25 mm, binding wire and of course funds to run petrol to rescue monkeys or take to the vet. Telephone cards to phone the vet or ask for donations . Anyone who would like to support the monkeys and help them and visit them are more than welcome and should they want to contribute a small donation they can do so at ;- ABSA , World Primate Sanctuary, Edenvale branch , 9056835082. We are looking for premises of our own that would accommodate the monkeys and their ever growing needs. I as the founder have trained many students and have a small but reliable team that have given their life without a salary and have devoted their days to help the monkeys simply by cleaning cages, feeding etc .This is a blessing as the monkeys need good few dedicated, loyal, honest ,thorough workers that do not believe in materialism but rather build treasures above .That is dedication . Yours faithfully THE SOUTH AFRICAN RED CROSS SOCIETY Somerset Hospital, 1st Floor Helen Bouden Building To render service, to prevent and alleviate human suffering and foster man dignity in all communities by addressing the basic needs of the people in accordance with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
