Transcendental Meditation and It's Meaning

Transcendental Meditation

What it is

This is a very simple, natural, effortless technique that is practiced for 15-20 minutes a day, sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. During the session the mind settles down experiencing finer levels of thought, until it transcends the finest level of thought and experiences the source of thought, pure consciousness, the source of unlimited creativity and intelligence of both man and nature. It does not involve concentration or control of the mind and it is not a religion, philosophy or change of lifestyle.

Who can benefit?

Transcendental meditation helps the body to gain a unique and very profound state of relaxation, far, far deeper than ordinary eye-closed rest. This technique may be able to do the following:

  • Reduce stress

  • Increase both creativity and intelligence

  • Improve memory and learning ability

  • Increase inner calm, energy, happiness and self-esteem

  • Reduce insomnia, anxiety and depression

  • Improve relationships and health

  • Promote a younger biological age.

How does it work?

The process of transcending thought is simple, effortless, and enjoyable. However to learn the process properly is exceedingly precise and individual therefore it is a good idea to find a qualified teacher who can teach you individually. Therefore, those who are interested in meditating should have access to a complete follow up program that provides proper guidance throughout life. The TM program is taught through a 7 step course of instruction offered through hundreds of Maharishi Vedic Universities and schools throughout the world.
