When you were young, do you remember dancing as if no one were watching? Dancing impulsively is generally an exuberant and happy compulsion stimulated by music we resonate with - and when we are done dancing we inevitably feel liberated, joyous and carefree. Spontaneously transferring what one imagines onto paper, either with words but more commonly using colour, line, form and 3D construction, has the same effect - it frees up your monkey-mind and lets the 'monkey' dance so your mind can work better! Children do this and as we age we so often loose our spontaneity and we stop moving and drawing and creating simply for the joy - or sadness - of it.   How would you like to do that again? Just dance and move and draw spontaneously? Not having to perform, or please anyone – wouldn’t you enjoy making a connection to your essence again?

We were born into an evolving body of flesh and blood; we are also imbued with an eternally connected vital force that powers-up both our body and our higher faculties that grow and evolve. Throughout our lives our bodies encode every single experience we have - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual - into our muscles, sinews, organs, bones and into our genetic structures. Our body is our interface with our vital force and is the quintessential vehicle for the expression of our being. Consciously engaging in any spontaneously creative activity - and primarily, dance - releases untold electrical impulses. Imagine if each impulse had its own story?  What if some of those stories need to be heard to create a space within you where you can simply observe your 'stories'? Space where you could make better choices that serve your purpose and higher good - without judgement and without analysis?

There is an increasing need for free-expression as our consciousness expands. We need safe places and activities to explore the space that is opening up within us and to simply be with what we find there. More and more bio-spiritual methodologies to facilitate this need for mindful, yet spontaneous expression are becoming available. There are burgeoning art classes where expressive drawing, doodling and mandala making are offered; there are a growing number of spontaneous dance classes available and the to make a choice is bewildering. Introducing Chakradance™...

Chakradance™ offers a beautiful opportunity where all the criteria are met. This is a free-form dancing modality developed by Australian Natalie Southgate where she has combined the yoga model of the chakras and the Jungian concept of archetypes, with especially composed music that resonates with each chakra.

The role of the chakra system is to help regulate the morphogenetic field, commonly known as the aura. The aura is a dynamic, energetic matrix, which includes the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being.

Every human being has seven major chakras and each one influences an aspect of our lives. From our instincts, sexuality and personal power through to how we love, communicate, use our intuition and connect to our deepest source of spirituality.

When you discover the power and the energy that resides within you, it is like coming home.Chakradance™ is a form of nourishment for your true self, for your soul. Blending free-flowing movements with particular frequencies of sound, Chakradance™ will free the energy in your body and open you to a deeper experience of life.

In a dimly lit room, we move to music created to resonate with the vibrations of each of our 7 major chakras. We dance with blindfolds on which assists in focussing our attention inwards;  Chakradance™ is about making a connection with our inner world – the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses. The experience is like a waking dream – we dance up forgotten parts of ourselves, and release the memories stored in our muscles. Our aches and pains reveal their stories and our hidden fears unmask themselves. The experiences are deeply personal and reflect our own nature and history, yet at the same time we tap into the collective heights and depths of human experience.

Drawing on the wisdom of Jungian Psychology,Chakradance™ is a dance for healing and self-discovery. Each dance is unique and gives rise to different insights and feelings every time… and the most magical thing is that we use the spontaneous creation of personal ‘mandala art’ as a way of anchoring our experiences back into our conscious world as well as a visual medicine going forward.

Each dance leads us closer to the person we are truly meant to be.
