Soft Tissue Damage
The soft tissues are those which surround the bones and joints in the body. They include ligaments, tendons and muscles. Injury to these soft tissues is very common, and includes strains, sprains, tendonitis and injuries which causes tearing.
Any activity which places undue strain on the soft tissues of the body can cause damage. The most common causes are: Impact, Straining, Tearing, and Inflammation. Sports injuries are common causes of torn ligaments. The affected joint will become extremely painful, and possibly unstable if there is a complete tear. Severe sprains may lead to the dislocation of the joint, and repeated injury to the same part of the body may cause the ligaments to lose their elasticity.
