The limitations hiking brings to taking photographs are substantial compared to going out on a shoot or safari. We want to stick to paths, the watch, our group and carry as little equipment as possible. However, many great artists started their passion with restrictions and constrains. Some professional photographers even chose to use their limits to achieve mastery, using one camera with one lens for most of their career. In addition to knowing how to use their camera well, they also know how to respond to their creative impulse by being deeply connected to their inner and outer Nature.
This PHOTO’SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP has been developed to teach you three things: To look deeper, to see photographically and to recognise the options available to you turning your sensations and ideas into images that satisfy you. Use it as a first stepping stone to mastery or as a past time for the rest of your life.
Bring whatever gear you have; a phone with a camera, a camera with a phone, a DSLR or mirrorless, you’ll benefit from what you want to carry and hold still during these two days.
The program is grounded in my own life as a stills photographer, cinematographer who filmed and producer-directed wildlife documentaries, creative-nature facilitator, coach and mentor to camera assistants who are now successful cameramen in their own right. An example of what can transpire when we look deeper, see photographically and respond creatively with a camera manifested for me personally as life transforming experiences while filming the NatGeo wildlife documentary THE LAST LIONESS. The program is suited for hikers who want to photograph during walks and hikes to relax, recharge and renew their creative flow.
