Services

Core Brain Development is a remedial therapy programme for children and adults experiencing learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s and high-functioning Autism.

The programme uses targeted physical therapy exercises in short, daily sessions to stimulate and develop the Cerebellum – the brain’s skill-learning and automaticity centre. By strengthening neural pathways and improving the way the Cerebellum functions, the programme aims to support information processing, coordination, concentration, focus and learning.

When the Cerebellum is under-developed, the Cerebrum may have to work harder to manage tasks that should become automatic. This can contribute to difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, Maths, memory, organisation, processing, coordination, concentration, emotional control and social skills.

As the Cerebellum develops, more tasks can become automatic, helping to free up working memory for higher-level thinking, problem-solving and learning. This can make it easier to focus, process and retain information, supporting improved performance in education, work and everyday life.

The goal is to help each individual develop their skills, reduce the impact of learning difficulties and reach their full potential.

Biography

Dioné Johnson

Having been an exercise enthusiast all my life and being very involved in Sport at all levels, I have experienced first hand and witnessed the effects of exercise on the body and brain. My passion for sport and exercise, lead me to study a degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science and Psychology. After doing Exercise Rehab with the rugby players followed by 6.5 years lecturing at DUT in Durban, where I lectured Anatomy and Physiology and Exercise Physiology, I went to teach A Levels in the UK for 3 years. This was followed by a stint Teaching English as a second Language in Japan. I then returned to South Africa and worked with Ozone Therapy before starting specific training in the UK and launching a Programme for Learning Difficulties in South Africa in 2006. This has been an intriguing, rewarding and passionate career for the last 20 years and I look forward to helping many adults and children in the future.
